Edmonton Takes Early Series Lead with Double Overtime Victory

McDavid, Hyman Lead the Charge

The Edmonton Oilers stole home-ice advantage in the Western Conference Final with a hard-fought 3-2 double overtime win over the Dallas Stars in Game 1 on Wednesday night. Connor McDavid, the Oilers' star captain, played a pivotal role in the victory, scoring the game-winning goal 8:17 into the second overtime period. Earlier in the game, McDavid assisted on Zach Hyman's goal, which gave Edmonton a 2-0 lead in the second period. Stars forward Tyler Seguin brought Dallas back into the game with a goal late in the second period. Dallas also introduced a new wrinkle in their breakout strategy, which almost paid off early in the game. Despite the Stars' efforts, the Oilers held on to secure the Game 1 victory. The series now shifts to Dallas for Game 2 on Friday night.
